Biophilia
Human beings' innatelove of nature and all forms of life. It is a genetic predisposition expressed through the physical and mental need to be in touch with the natural world, either directly, such as time spent outdoors or interaction with animals and plants, or indirectly, such as appreciation of natural materials or artistic representations of nature. Cultivating this connection leads to significant benefits to personal, social, environmental and economic wellbeing.
Biophilic Design
Applied science that uses the principles of Biophilia to design spaces and experiences that facilitate effective connection with nature. It bridges the gap between the natural and built environment, especially in the confined spaces where we spend 90 percent of our time. Biophilic Design is evidence-based design that leads to remarkable impacts in every living context.
Environmental Psychology
Reresearch and operational field that explores the dynamics between people and living environments. It analyzes how the environment influences our bodies, emotions, thoughts and behaviors, and conversely, how we influence the environment in which we live. This discipline provides the scientific basis for designing environments that improve quality of life and wellbeing while promoting sustainable behaviors.
